Starting a new business or closing one; acknowledging a growth milestone; marking a change of premises; celebrating valued staff – these are common events in organisations but they often go unmarked. Each offers an opportunity to affirm the centrality of people to the culture of an enterprise. As your celebrant, I will help you plan and design the event and create a focus that puts the change into perspective. I am available as MC or as a coach to assist an appropriate staff member to take on this role. Contact me to discuss your event.
Communities in many respects are organic enterprises, bonded by shared interests, events and celebrations. Unveiling a public artwork, cleansing the space where a tragedy has occurred, celebrating anniversaries, marking an event such as Anzac Day, new buildings and parks – the possibilities for connecting with other local folk are unlimited. As a community celebrant, I help create an appropriate focus to bring gravitas and heart to your celebration.
Labyrinths
These ancient artforms are enjoying a resurgence of interest as a way to mindfully engage with walking a predictable path. The Path of the Pukeko was a good example of a temporary labyrinth, which I created with my colleague Kerry-Ann Stanton and a team of willing local volunteers, by cutting through the dense kikuyu grass. The unique site-specific designed labyrinth was launched during the Harbourview Sculpture Trail in March 2014, crafting a public contemplative space from this forgotten piece of wasteland. The Path of the Pukeko remained in place on Auckland's Te Atatu Peninsula for most of that year, the paddock gradually reverting to its original state.
Beaches also lend themselves to temporary labyrinths which are cleared by the incoming tide. Contact me if you would like to explore creating a temporary or permanent labyrinth. An existing labyrinth can also be a wonderful location for a ceremony or ritual.
